Delinquent Tax Certificate Sales are HELD THE FIRST MONDAY OF EACH MONTH AT THE STARK COUNTY COURTHOUSE (FOYER) STARTING AT 11:00 AM. The Delinquent Tax Certificate Sale will be Tuesday if Monday is a holiday.

The Stark County Courthouse is located at 115 Central Plaza North which is downtown Canton on the North-West corner of Tuscarawas Street and Central Plaza North (Market Avenue).

**PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN REGARDS TO METHOD OF PAYMENT/10% DOWN PAYMENT & DEED RECORDING FEE BEGINNING November, 2012**

A deposit of 10% of the Winning bid, but not less than $500.00 is due the Treasurer of Stark County, no later than Noon on the Day of Sale.  The remaining balance is due in 30 Calendar days from the date the final entry confirming the sale is received by the Clerk of Courts.  The date received shall count as day number one.  The Sheriff of Stark County has no legal or statutory authority to grant any extension of payment what so ever.  ALL SALES ARE AS IS AND PROPERTIES ARE NOT OPEN FOR INSPECTION PRIOR TO SALE, UNLESS NOTED IN THE AD.

Method of Bidding: All bidding is done in person on the day of the sale, there are NO PHONE BIDS, NO MAIL IN BIDS, AND NO ONLINE BIDS.  All bidding will be in minimum increments of $100.00.

Method of Payment:  The purchaser will now be required to provide two (2) checks (certified or cashiers only) totaling at least 10% of the winning bid, one made payable to the Stark County Treasurer for 10% deposit, and one payable to the Stark County Recorder for the deed recording  fee.  (The fee amount will be known the day of the sale).  The deed recording fee will now be considered part of your 10% deposit.

If the purchaser chooses to pay in full the day of the sale, the same changes apply:  two (2) checks (certified or cashiers only) totaling the winning bid, one made payable to the Stark County Treasurer for balance after subtracting the deed recording fee, and one payable to the Stark County Recorder for the deed recording  fee.  (The fee amount will be known the day of the sale).  The deed recording fee will be considered part of your payment in full.

The treasurer will demand cashier's check or certified check, made payable to "The Treasurer of Stark County." The treasurer will no longer accept cash or personal checks due to the fiscal liability on the part of the treasurer and his deputies for payment of tax sale properties.

Tax Certificate Foreclosures are not appraised and the PRIVATE ATTORNEY representing the Plaintiff sets the minimum bid  Tax Certificate Foreclosures are advertised for three (3) consecutive weeks, on Thursday, in the Canton Repository before sale date.
